Can't sync - vufone quits while reading contacts

Postby acurrie » Sat Feb 14, 2009 9:57 pm

Any ideas as to why this could be happening?

I'm using a Nokia E71 on Fido in Canada. I've set the sync connection to my home WiFi network. The app starts up fine, but when I attempt to sync it suddenly quits while reading my 650 or so contacts.

Is that too many for your service to handle?

Thanks in advance for any direction on this...

As an update, it's definitely an issue with my contacts -- I turned contact sync off and everything else synced successfully.

My address book has synced to a Mac via iSync for 2 years without issue... Is there some kind of corrupted field in an entry (like a phone number extension) that could be causing this?

Hi Acurrie

Your assumption of corrupted field might be true but there might be other reasons.
1. please verify there is enough memory on the device, building a big contact list and send it to the server requires memory from the device.
2. Do you have many contacts thumbnails?

1. I've monitored my RAM usage during a contact sync (where the app quits) -- it never goes beyond about 61MB of the available 110MB I have available on my handset.
2. Yes, offhand I'd say at least half of my contacts have thumbnail graphics for caller ID.

Thanks...
